Bio
Dr. Ashley Jamison is an assistant professor in the School of Psychology & Counseling. She received a Ph.D. in Counselor Education & Supervision from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, where she previously taught and supervised counseling students. She also received her MA in Marriage and Family Counseling and ThM in Psychology and Counseling from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and a BBA from Cameron University.
Jamison is a licensed professional counselor and supervisor in both Virginia and Louisiana. Her clinical experience has included private practice work with couples and individuals with a variety of presenting issues, as well as addiction counseling and working in the community with severe and persistent mental illness. Her current practice focuses on providing care for missionary and ministry families. She believes that everyone is doing the best they can, but we have a lot “stuff” that gets in the way of living in the wholeness of who God created us to be. All of our experiences impact us, and some of those leave deep wounds that interfere with how we view ourselves, others, God, and creation. Sometimes, those stories need a closer look as we move toward the freedom that comes with knowing and believing the truth.
Jamison’s clinical and research interests include trauma, childhood emotional neglect, neuro-affirming care, and the well-being of missionary and ministry families. She also has a focus on counselor development and clinical supervision.
