Judge Glen A. Huff, J.D.

Bio

Glen A. Huff is a judge on the Court of Appeals of Virginia, elected to that position by the Virginia General Assembly in July of 2011. In 2014, Huff was elected Chief Judge and served a four-year term in that role. He continues to serve as a judge on the court.

Before becoming a judge on the Court of Appeals, Huff practiced law for nearly 35 years. He began his legal career as a clerk (1976-77) for Chief Judge Richard B. Kellam in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. Following his clerkship, Huff founded and grew the firm that came to be known as Huff, Poole & Mahoney. His areas of practice included medical malpractice, business litigation, products liability, attorney malpractice, admiralty and a variety of general practice topics. He has served as a national coordinating counsel for law enforcement liability claims and was designated by Cessna Aircraft Corporation as national counsel for cross-examination of opposing experts. He has handled high profile cases and has tried scores of jury trials to verdict.

For many years, Huff has been A-V rated, and has received recognition from Best Lawyers in America, Virginia Legal Elite, and Super Lawyers. His bar admissions have included the Virginia State Bar, North Carolina State Bar, U.S. Court of Federal Claims, U.S. Supreme Court, Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. District Courts in Virginia and North Carolina.

In the late 1990s, Huff founded an internet arbitration company. He has authored multiple legal articles and publications and has lectured on topics such as Arbitration, Cross-Examination, Effective Use of Paralegals, and Document Utilization. Huff has served as a faculty member for the Harry L. Carrico Professionalism Course, and as an adjunct professor at William & Mary Law School where he taught Professional Responsibility.

Huff was a founding member and past president of the James Kent American Inn of Court and has served as president of the Virginia Beach Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, the Central Business District Association, the Virginia Beach Forum, and the Cape Henry Rotary Club. He also has served on the boards of the Norfolk-Portsmouth Bar Association, Heritage Bank (advisory board), Youth Entertainment Studios, Virginia Beach Visions, Virginia Beach Community Development Corporation, Sandler Center for the Performing Arts, Virginia Symphony, Virginia Beach Foundation, Samaritan House, International Association of Defense Counsel, Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys, and others.
