Regent Introduces New Master of Science in Library Science for Spring 2026

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (September 26, 2025) – Regent University is adding a new Master of Science in Library Science (MSLS) to its spring 2026 curriculum. This new degree, offered through the School of Education, equips students to become librarian professionals in higher education settings.

“We are excited to open this pathway for students who are passionate about the future of libraries and information services,” said Kurt Kreassig, Dean of the School of Education. “Our new Master of Science in Library Science reflects Regent’s deep commitment to equipping professionals who will preserve knowledge, promote literacy, and guide communities through the information-rich world of today and tomorrow.”

The M.S. in Library Science prepares students for academic librarian careers within a distinctive online program. Through connections with library professionals, students explore information management, advanced research, and accessibility challenges while maintaining a Christian worldview.

“There are few library and information science programs taught by a Christian-oriented institution,” said Esther Gillie, Dean of the Regent University Library. “Our unique Christian perspective is the main reason why Regent is launching this much needed program.”

Along with the general education requirements of this degree program, students will complete the following courses of study:

  • Foundations of Library Science
  • Christian Worldview in Library Science
  • Leadership in Academic Libraries
  • Professional & Ethical Issues in Librarianship
  • Digital Presence for Libraries & Information Centers
