Regent School of Divinity Partners in Spiritual Development with the Church of God in Christ

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (Mar. 11, 2025) – Regent University’s School of Divinity is pleased to announce a new partnership with the First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Eastern New York of the Church of God in Christ (C.O.G.I.C.) that strengthens faithful and Biblical theological and ministerial education through academic programs, increased ministry experiences and shared resources.

“We are so grateful for the providential possibilities that this new partnership with COGIC presents to the university,” said Corné J. Bekker, Dean of the School of Divinity at Regent University. “Our School of Divinity is committed to learn from and serve the global Church and this timely partnership provides true transformative opportunities for our students to deepen and strengthen their preparation for their Godly call as the next generation of Christ-centered and Holy Spirit empowered ministry leaders, and all of that in the context of the Church, the Body of Christ. May this partnership prepare countless laborers for the great harvest of our Lord.”

This new partnership provides for a tuition discount for members of any of the C.O.G.I.C. First Jurisdiction churches. It encompasses not only work with Regent’s School of Divinity but also Regent’s College of Arts and Sciences undergraduate programs as well as master’s and doctoral programs in Regent’s other Schools.

The C.O.G.I.C. faith is one of the largest Pentecostal Christian denominations in the United States with over 6.5 million members. The denomination has historic African American roots that trace back to its founding in 1907 by Bishop Charles Harrison Mason who was part of the Azusa Street Revival led by African American pastor William J. Seymour.
