Regent University Students Join Over 700 Attendees at United Nations to Commemorate October 7
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (October 7, 2025) – On Monday, September 29th, a group of Regent University students traveled to New York City to visit the Consulate General of Israel to support Israel at the October 7 commemoration held at the UN with over 700 people.
Regent University’s Israel Institute partnered with Danny Danon, Israeli Ambassador to the UN, to have 21 of Regent’s undergraduate, graduate, and law students attend the event. Among those students were the presidents of various student organizations, including Christians United for Israel (CUFI), Regent Israel Public Affairs Committee (RIPAC), and Turning Point USA.
At the commemoration event, students got to hear from two women who were directly impacted by the events on October 7, 2023. One woman was a music festival survivor who helped save three injured people as they were fleeing Hamas, and the other was a commander from the all-female tank unit in the Israel Defense Force (IDF) who led her team into several kibbutzim that were attacked by Hamas.
Through both the moving commemoration event and interacting with Israeli culture by visiting an Israeli Druze restaurant, the students had the opportunity to learn about and experience Jewish and Israeli culture in New York City, which currently hosts the largest Jewish population outside of Israel.
“I’m grateful for Ambassador Danon’s team, which facilitated this incredible opportunity for our students at the UN,” said Dr. AJ Nolte, Director of Regent University’s Israel Institute. “It was impactful for students to learn about Israeli culture firsthand, hear the stories of the brave women of Israel, and spend time in one of America’s greatest cities.”
With the help of CBN Israel and Ambassador Danon, many students on this trip gained a deeper understanding of Israeli culture and developed a stronger passion to advocate for Israel.
