Regent University Students Receive Top Film Honors at the Broadcast Education Association Festival
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (Feb. 26, 2025) – Three Regent University films achieved high honors at the Broadcast Education Association (BEA) 2025 Festival of Media Arts—an international faculty and student digital media and broadcast competition that collected nearly 2,300 entries from over 300 participating colleges and universities this year.
“It’s so exciting to see the way in which the talent being cultivated here at Regent University is being recognized,” said Mike Sinclair, Associate Dean for the School of Communication and the Arts. “The BEA is a premier outlet for trailblazing visual storytelling. To have various graduate and undergraduate students present films that are then celebrated on this prestigious level is exciting. I look forward to seeing where these students’ exemplary storytelling will take them next.”

Honorees for the BEA 2025 Festival of Media Arts this spring include:
William Wonders (MFA, ‘25) won 2nd place in the Graduate Division, Documentary Competition for his short documentary Beauty Standards,
Curtis McDaniel (MFA, ‘25) won an Award of Excellence in the Graduate Narrative Film Division for The Proposal; Curtis McDaniel, Kaleb Lawrence & Josiah Rozek, Regent University.
Marcus Carola, Nolan Leonard, McKenzie Glass and Mariah Young won an Award of Excellence in the Narrative Film Undergraduate Competition for Aria of Ashe (a Regent endowed film).
The BEA is the premier international academic media organization, driving insights, excellence in media production, and career advancement for educators, students, and professionals. The association’s publications, annual convention, web-based programs, and regional district activities provide opportunities for juried production competition and presentation of current scholarly research related to aspects of the electronic media. These areas include media audiences, economics, law and policy, regulation, news, management, aesthetics, social effects, history, and criticism.

The BEA serves as a forum for exposition, analysis and debate of issues of social importance to develop members’ awareness and sensitivity to these issues and to their ramifications, which will ultimately help students develop as more thoughtful practitioners.
The BEA will spotlight the 19 Best of Festival winners in Las Vegas on Monday, April 7, 2025.
