What are Meal Plan Royal Dollars, and How Can I Use Them?
Meal Plan Royal Dollars are flexible funds included with each meal plan. This helps students avoid using a meal swipe if they want a quick snack or entrée from the Ordinary without getting a meal. They can also use the dollars for items at 77 Coffeehouse or Regent Gift Shop.
Where Can I Use My Meal Swipes?
Meal swipes are valid at The Ordinary Cafe for all-you-can eat buffets:
- Breakfast Buffet: Includes eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, grits, oatmeal, fresh fruit, cereal bar, waffle bar, rotating main items (e.g., pancakes, French toast), and beverages like juice, coffee, and milk.

Can I Change or Cancel My Meal Plan?
- Changes: Requests Must Be submitted through StarRez by 5 p.m. on the first Friday of the academic year (or the first Friday of the spring term if you are adding a new meal plan in the spring). Changes will not take effect until approved by Student Services.
- Cancellations: If canceled by 5 p.m. on the first Friday of the academic year (or spring term, if applicable), any used meal swipes or Meal Plan Royal Dollars will be charged to your account based on usage.
There will be a designated period between the fall and spring semesters during which meal plan users may request to change — but not cancel — their plan. Student Services will communicate the details of this period in advance. Changes will not take effect until approved.
Do Unused Meal Swipes or Meal Plan Royal Dollars Roll Over?
Unused meal swipes and Meal Plan Royal Dollars included with a meal plan do not roll over and are non-refundable. However, independently purchased Flex Royal Dollars roll over from fall to spring but expire at the end of the spring semester.
Are Meal Plans Active During Breaks?
Meal plans are not in effect during campus closures on holidays as well as fall, Thanksgiving, winter, and spring breaks. Service may also be suspended if the campus is closed due to an emergency or other urgent circumstances. No credit adjustments or refunds will be provided for unused meal swipes, Meal Plan Royal Dollars, and Flex Royal Dollars, even in the event of unexpected closures.
How Do I Sign Up for a Meal Plan?
You can sign up for a meal plan through StarRez. If you’re using federal financial aid, complete the Federal Aid Authorization Form under Financial Aid > Resources to authorize payment.
Who is Eligible for Meal Plans?
Meal plan eligibility is based on student status and registration. Changes in status or registration within the academic year may result in removal from the meal plan program, with any remaining balances prorated.
